and drag the charmed mirrors
and the hearty laughter
and drive
long
sharp
nails
into the hands of Christ.
We change the subject
most of the time
and then stop short
watching the other person
to see if we have struck home
and we try to pretend it's nothing.
But it isn't like this
and you can't
just grab the opportunities
and try to do your best
and in the meantime
give your attention to this and to that
while in Galilee they drive
long
sharp
nails
into the hands of Christ.
And they have sold him
and cold nights
and the dew
the morning
and faint sounds
and the flickering of the lamplighting
and the cool wind
while from the boat
you watch the deserted horizon…

during those quiet reflectie moments
you have your friends near you
and you feel understood and loved
and you try to keep hold of this moment
and to live it fully
you don't realize
that already now for a little while
